The Ultra Low Carbon Alliance issued the following response to the recent New York Times article regarding the solar industry and forced labor in the Xinjiang province of China.

"The Ultra Low-Carbon Solar Alliance is deeply concerned about the New York Times’ recent reports of the use of forced labor in the Xinjiang region of China, where some parts of the solar value chain are concentrated. Unsustainable practices like forced labor are abhorrent and have no place in our world, much less our solar industry. Our members are evaluating their supply chains if they involve China, and we welcome the Solar Energy Industry Association’s efforts on supply chain transparency. Solar purchasers should ensure that the solar panels they buy are made sustainably and do not rely on forced labor or dirty power."
